It is awarded to officers, and originally intended as an award for bravery and particularly long or useful service, eventually becoming a more or less obligatory award for military officers after a certain number of years in service. There were originally three grades: Knight, Commander and Commander Grand Cross, but these were later multiplied by division into classes. The Order of the Sword in peacetime had five classes: Commander Grand Cross, I Class Commander, Commander, I Class Knight and Knight. The motto of the order is in Latin: \"Pro Patria\" (For Fatherland).\u003c\/p\u003e","brand":"eMedals","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":46094451015853,"sku":"EU22460","price":400.8,"currency_code":"USD","in_stock":true}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0751\/8493\/0989\/files\/MNC5367_547412a0-95f2-4dd8-bb37-7efe42a341e9.jpg?v=1780957156","url":"https:\/\/norlato.com\/products\/sweden-kingdom-a-royal-order-of-the-sword-commanders-badge-eu22460","provider":"norlato","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
