Invite the flavors and aromas of Italy into your home kitchen with Olio della Donna Piero Tuscan Field Blend Extra Virgin Olive Oil. This new label from Elaine Trigiani (best known from Sàgona) combines the best olive farming techniques with avant-garde milling equipment and expert millers.
The organic olives used to make this particular Olio della Donna product, which include Frantoio, Moraiolo, and other autochthonous olive varieties, are grown in the Florentine hills of Chianti to the southwest of Florence. The harvesting and milling processes help to retain the best flavors as well as high levels of antioxidants (and therefore more health benefits) in the resulting oil.
Piero Tuscan blend features medium intensity with a balance of spiciness and bitterness. Enjoy the aromas of artichoke and fresh cut grass when enjoying it with steak, beans, lasagne, sausage risotto, flavorful cheeses, chicken with potatoes, and other hearty home dishes.
An homage to Piero Dogolini, self-sufficient Tuscan farmer from the last century who made his olive oil just like we do. He pruned carefully (saving the cuttings for firewood), farmed organically to help the trees produce good fruit and then took his olives to a technologically advanced mill because he believed that was the way to make the best tasting oil that keeps its flavor (and health benefits) the longest.
